Certification Services

Certification is required as evidence or proof that products, materials, shipments/consignments or services meet regulations, standards or other requirements. This may be a customer or market requirement or could be a part of import or export regulations.

Verification of conformity

These certificates are often mandatory, such as certificates of conformity (CoC) for verification of conformity (VOC) programs, mandatory for importing regulated products or materials in many countries, but certificates can also help to differentiate a business against the competition.

Certification of services

Certification for services, show a commitment to a specific focus area of an operation, for example a sustainable tourism certificate for a hotel, shows commitment to sustainable tourism, differentiating that hotel from competitors and proving credibility for a very specific market.

How does it work

The process

The products or samples of a consignment generally need to be tested against the required standard’s specified parameters. Often the production process or procedures are also taken into account to ensure ongoing consistency of results are maintained through quality control.

If the tested products or materials meet the required standards, then a certificate of conformity (CoC) can be issued.

For the certification of management systems, such as for sustainable tourism, an audit process is required to determine that all areas of the operation meet the required standards.
